Women's Basketball Loses to Lynn

Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG
, Fla. - Sophomore guard Jordan Stacey scored 22 points while grabbing nine rebounds but the Lynn Fighting Knights (15-9, 7-7 SSC) defeated the Eckerd Tritons (9-14, 3-11 SSC), 71-66, on Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Center.

The first half featured 11 lead changes as the Tritons came back from a 19-13 deficit to take a 33-31 lead into halftime after a three by Taylor Young with 13 seconds left.

In the second half, the Knights started the stanza on a 13-5 run, capped by a three-ball by Kira Harvey, to take a 44-38 lead with 15:58 to go. After Lynn would expand its lead to 65-58 with 1:20 left, the Tritons chipped away at that lead, cutting it down to 66-64 after a pair of free throws by Ashley Lutz with 24 ticks left.

Eckerd, however, would never get closer as a critical turnover with 16 seconds to go turned a one-possession game into a two-possession game.

For the game, Lutz scored 13 points while Kati Rausberg and Young added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Madeleine Doyle led Lynn with 22 points.

Eckerd will return to action on Wednesday, February 24 as it hosts Saint Leo at 5:30pm.
