Eckerd-Rollins Box Score
WINTER PARK, Fla. – Megan Hodges and Kelly Meredith each had 15 kills to lead Rollins College to a 3-0 win (25-22, 25-22, 29-27) on Friday at Warden Arena.
Sarah Mendoza added a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs, as Rollins (20-9, 9-7 Sunshine State Conference) won for the fourth time in its last five outings.
The Tars were solid offensively, hitting .287 as a team.
Freshman Lindsay Biggs had a match-high 16 kills to lead Eckerd (9-17, 2-13), while Olivia Fraser tallied 13 kills. Ariana Chinn had nine kills and a team-best 13 digs, while Bri Smith and Hallie Ward each recorded 12 digs.
The Tars led for much of the opening set and had a 22-18 lead late. But the Tritons fought back to cut the deficit to 22-21 before Rollins took three of the final four points.
In the second, Eckerd made a late rally by cutting a 22-17 deficit to 23-22. The hosts, though, again rallied to take the final two points and grab a 2-0 advantage.
Eckerd had a set point and fought off two match points in the third before Rollins finally closed it out.
The Tritons will wrap up the 2010 season on Saturday with a 4 p.m. match at Florida Southern.
