Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's soccer team defeated Clearwater Christian 5-0 Friday on senior night. The Tritons out shot the Cougars 27-3, as Eckerd managed a season-high 16 shots on goal.

Senior Nicole Davis had a night to remember, as she scored the first two goals of her career on senior night. The Mt. Pleasant, Mich. native nailed a 50-yard free kick in the 53rd minute to put the Tritons up 2-0. Davis had another long-range bomb from 35 yards out in the waning minutes of the second half, putting an exclamation point on a terrific career.

“The win means a lot to me and the team tonight,” Davis said. “It's not just about the goals, our defense also held (Clearwater Christian), which means a lot to me as a defender.”

Senior Samantha Nichols assisted sophomore Miranda Rivera on her goal in the 78th minute; her second assist of the season.

“I'm really proud of the way our seniors played tonight,” head coach Danielle Fotopoulos said. “We're going to miss them next season. They all did a great job of contributing to the game tonight.”

Junior Symone Stubbs scored less than a minute after Davis's first goal, dribbling around the keeper on an unassisted goal in the 54th minute. Sophomore Emily Johnson also contributed to the score sheet in the 9th minute of the game, striking the ball into the lower left corner of the goal.

Sophomore Kelly Zahorski had a clean sheet on the night and recorded two saves.

The Tritons will head to Thomasville, Ga. to face Thomas University on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Eckerd will wrap up their home schedule next Thursday against conference opponent Barry at 7 p.m. Results will be posted on eckerdtritons.com.
