Box Score

BOCA RATON
, Fla. - Ashley Lutz scored 20 points, but the Eckerd Tritons (6-9, 1-6 SSC) needed just two more as they were defeated by the Lynn Fighting Knights (11-6, 3-4 SSC), 59-58, on Saturday afternoon at Lynn's DeHornle Center.

In the first half, the Tritons used stellar defense to go into the half leading 30-25. While holding the Knights to 25 percent shooting from the field, Eckerd jumped out to a 14-6 lead on a layup by Kati Rausberg with 15:13 to go. Despite scoring just 14 points for the remainder of the half, the Tritons kept Lynn at bay even though the Knights closed the gap to 22-21 on a pair of free throws by Madeline Doyle.

In the second half, Lynn struck back with a 20-7 run to take a 45-37 lead with 11:36 to play after a bucket by Amanda Schulz. The Tritons would come back to take a 49-47 on a layup by Lutz but the Knights would take the lead for good, 51-49, on a basket by Chelsea Patterson with 5:32 to go.

In a second half that saw four ties, the game came down to the wire as Taylor Young knocked down a three to trim Lynn's lead to 59-58 with 1:20 to go. After Patterson missed the front end of a one-and-one, the Tritons would get off two shots in the game's final possession, as well as two offensive rebounds, but the Tritons could not get a shot to fall, giving the Knights the one-point victory.

For the game, Eckerd out-shot Lynn 45 percent to 36.5 percent from the field. The biggest difference in the game, however, was the Tritons' 6-for-14 shooting from the free throw line.

Jordan Stacey and Rausberg added 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Tijana Brdar scored eight points along with seven assists. Kira Harvey scored 20 points to lead the Knights.

Eckerd will return to action on Wednesday, January 27 as it hosts Rollins at 5:30pm at the McArthur Center
