Miami Shores, FL - After facing an early deficit, the Eckerd Tritons rallied in the second half with two goals, one by
Anthony Arico and the game-winner by
Kiki Gonzalez, to beat the Barry Buccaneers, 2-1, on Saturday.
The lone Barry (3-3-1, 0-1 SSC) goal came off the foot of junior Sascha Koettig at the 21:38 mark. Koettig fielded a well-placed header from senior Ryan Alexander and poked the ball past the sliding Eckerd goalkeeper.
The first goal for the Tritons (3-2-0, 1-0 SSC) came during the 65th minute off of a cross by
Colin Kuhn that was headed in by Arico. Three minutes later, the Tritons scored again in the 68th minute as Gonzalez kicked a free kick that sailed 20 yards and was deflected into the goal by a Barry defender.
Triton sophomore goalkeeper,
Domenic Spedaliere collected six saves in the contest.
The Tritons return to action at home on Wednesday, September 23rd as they face rival Florida Southern. Game time is 7pm.
