Women's Soccer Falls to Embry-Riddle 4-0

Daytona Beach, FL – Eckerd College women's soccer looked to improve their record as they visited the Eagles of Embry-Riddle University, Sunday evening. The Tritons left the pitch on the losing end of a 4–0 score.

Eckerd (0-3-1) held its own as Kelly Zahorski, in her second career start, had six saves prior to the first score. The Eagles (2-3-0), however, were able to draw first blood in the 27th minute as Hannah Lundqvist was able to sneak past the Triton defense to receive a pass from Madeline Edborn to score the first of her three goals.

The Tritons played tough through the rest of the first half, going into the break down just 1-0.

The second half began as Embry-Riddle took a flurry of shots on the Tritons' side of the field. The Eagles were able to score their second goal in the 62nd minute as Lundqvist slid a shot past Zahorski, on an assist from Elina Johansson.

Embry-Riddle scored again in the 74th minute as Johansson tallied another goal on a pass from Lundqvist.

Less then two minutes later, Lundqvist completed the hat trick, scoring game's final goal of the evening on a cross from Krizzy Menez.

Zahorski finished the match with 13 saves. She leads the team, amassing 15 for the season. Triton sophomore Emily Johnson, who leads the team with 12 shots, was able to tally three shots for the game.

The Tritons will return to the pitch, Saturday, September 19th, as they return home to open Sunshine State Conference play against Saint Leo. The game is scheduled to begin at 7pm Eastern Time.
