SAINT LEO, Fla. - Decimated by injuries, the Eckerd Tritons (0-15, 0-8 SSC) lost at the hands of the Saint Leo Lions (9-14, 2-6 SSC) by a final count of 9-0 on Thursday afternoon. The Tritons had to forfeit a total of two doubles matches and one singles match due to injuries.
The match of the day took place in the fourth singles flight as Eckerd's
Sonnet Ludwig was taken to a tie-breaking third set by a come-from-behind effort by SLU's Lara King. King would end up victorious, winning the marathon set, 13-11.
Thursday's match marks the conclusion of the career of
Flavia Russo, the Tritons' lone senior in men's or women's tennis.
