ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Flagler's Hannah Harvell scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 17th minute to lead the Flagler Saints (7-5-1) past the Eckerd Tritons (2-10-1) by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday evening at the Turley Athletic Complex.
After Harvell's goal, the Flagler defense held the Tritons to just one second half shot, saved by goalkeeper Christie Reuther, to preserve the slim lead.
In her second collegiate start,
Cassie Burke made three saves in a losing effort. Flagler out-shot the Tritons 7-1 while holding a 3-1 corner kick advantage.
Prior to the game, the Tritons recognized the contributions of seniors
Megan Gunzelman and
Liz Russo as Eckerd's home schedule came to a close with the loss.
Eckerd will return to action on Saturday, October 24 as it travels to Boca Raton, Fla. to battle the Lynn Fighting Knights at 3pm.
