Men's Soccer Loses to No. 19 Lynn, 3-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Eckerd Men's Soccer Team (5-8, 3-4 SSC) looked to snap a four-game losing streak but could not as they fell to the 19th-ranked Lynn Fighting Knights (12-3, 3-3 SSC) by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Lynn's McCusker Sports Complex.

Lynn took an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Stefan Wolf scored the first of two goals after a pass from Kyle Conrad. The Knights expanded their lead nine and a half minutes later when Sam Craven headed in a cross by Scott McCubbin for a 2-0 score. Luke Magill picked up a secondary assist on the goal. Wolf capped Lynn's explosive first half when he beat Eckerd goalkeeper Domenic Spedaliere to a long touch by Gabe Taboada, making it a 3-0 score.

The Tritons started the second half strong as George Marchant scored his first goal of the season in the 49th minute as he chipped Lynn goalkeeper Alessandro Salvatore to make it 3-1.

Unfortunately for Eckerd, Marchant's goal did not provide the spark the Tritons needed as the Lynn defense held off the Tritons for the remainder of the game for the 3-1 victory.

For the game, Spedaliere made two saves in a losing effort while Salvatore made four. Lynn out-shot Eckerd 19-11 while the Tritons held a 5-4 corner kick advantage.

Eckerd will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 24 as it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic on Senior Night in non-SSC action beginning at 7pm.
