Lydee Benoit and
Ariana Chinn recorded 16 and 12 kills, respectively, while
Taylor Whaley added 11 kills as the Eckerd Tritons (10-7, 4-4 SSC) defeated the the Barry Buccaneers (10-7, 2-6 SSC), 3-1 (25-16, 25-23, 20-25, 25-8) on Saturday afternoon.
After the Bucs came from behind to win the third set, the Tritons dominated set four, reeling off nine straight points at one juncture. Benoit led the charge in the decisive set with seven kills.
For the match, Eckerd compiled an attack percentage of .313 while holding Barry to just .125.
Megan Golovkin tallied 46 set assists while
Hallie Ward led Eckerd with 15 digs. Benoit and Golovkin recorded 11 digs each. Ady Alcantara compiled 13 kills for Barry.
Eckerd will return to action on Monday, October 12 as it hosts Bentley in non-conference action at 7pm at the McArthur Center.
