Duren joined Eckerd in August 2021 as the Director of Sports Medicine, and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in August 2022. She enters her fifth season with Eckerd in the 2025-26 season. 

In her first year, she elevated the sports medicine department, including revamping Eckerd's insurance policy and developing a holistic recovery, injury prevention, and strength program. In addition, she was integral in establishing a connection with the University of South Florida's Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship program. 

In 2023, she co-organized Eckerd's campus-wide College Program Series event for World Mental Health Day.  She also implemented a first-ever department-wide cardiac screening procedure. 

Prior to Eckerd, Duren spent over 16 years at Minnesota State University - Mankato. Duren was a fixture of their athletic department, spending her final two years as the director of athletic healthcare, where she oversaw all aspects of sports medicine coverage for all 22 Maverick teams. Her role also included NCAA drug-testing site coordinator and secondary insurance coordinator. 

Duren joined the Mankato staff in 2003 as an assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to associate head athletic trainer in 2010. In the 2016-17 season, she served as the head athletic trainer before being elevated to the director role in 2017. 

During her time at Mankato, she received the Special Initiative Award from Minnesota State University and was nominated for the Vic Swenson Student Friendly Award. 

Most recently, Duren spent one year with Select Medical-NovaCare in St. Paul, Minnesota as a strategies specialist for ergonomic and injury prevention. 

Duren is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Minnesota Athletic Trainers Association, and Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association. She holds certifications as a Red Cross Professional Rescuer and is trained in the Graston Technique. 

Duren received her bachelor of science in exercise and sport science from Iowa State University in 1997 and her master's degree in exercise and sport science from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in 2003, where she also spent two seasons as a graduate assistant.
