
David Woodrum joined the Tritons staff as the head men's and women's golf coach in August 2023. He enters his third season at the helm in the 2025-26 campaign.
In his first year, he led women's golfer to the NCAA South Region, just the second appearance by a Triton in program history. Eriksson finished tied for 13th. She posted seven top-20 finishes on the year, including fifth at the SSC Championship on April 14-16, which is the best in program history. The women's team won the invite at Innisbrook to open the season, while shooting a program record for a three-round low with an 887. The women's team also won the William J. Mathews Academic Excelence Award for the team with the highest GPA. On the men's side, he led Eckerd and Josh DiZinno to wins at the Saint Anselm Florida Invite. The Tritons' victory is their first since at least the 2009-10 season. It is Eckerd's best finish since September 26-27, 2011, DiZinno's title was the first since Jeff Evanier won the Jay Jennison Memorial on September 27, 2011.
Woodrum continued to elevate both programs in the 2024-25 campaign. On the women's side he led Melissa Ball and Sandra Eriksson to individual appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the first time Eckerd has had two individuals make the NCAA Tournament. Eckerd ended the season ranked No. 32 in the country. The women;s team also collected the William J. Mathews Academic Excelence Award for the second straight year. On the men's side he led Reggie Fear to a selection to the NCAA Tournament, becoming the first individual selected for the regional since 2011. He was selected to the All-SSC First Team and GCAA All-Freshamn Team.

Woodrum comes to Eckerd after spending the 2022-23 season at Davis and Elkins College (WV) serving in the same role. He was named the Golf Coaches Association of America Atlantic Region Coach of the Year after leading the men's team to the NCAA National Championships in May, where the team placed 16th. He guided the men's team to the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship Title and the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship Title. The women's team finished third at the MEC Championships, their best finish in program history. They also won the Wally Edgell Championship. He also produced a GCAA Honorable Mention All-American on the men's squad and eight All-MEC honorees (four men and four women).
Prior to his time at Davis and Elkins, he held the position of head men's and women's golf coach at his alma mater Bluefield State (WV). Woodrum served as the head men's coach since 2017, guiding the program to a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Title in 2021 and a third-place finish at the USCAA Championships in 2019. He served as the women's head coach since 2020 when he launched the program.

An accomplished player, Woodrum produced a highly successful career as a student-athlete, leading the Big Blue to a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship and second-team All-American honors in 2017.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Management from Bluefield State in 2017.
