Greer Parker joined the staff of the Eckerd sailing program in August 2017 as the assistant coach. After one year in that role, she was named Assistant Head Coach in the summer of 2018 before being promoted to Head Coach in August 2019.
In her first season as the head coach, she won the first three SAISA events of the year, including the Match Race Championship which qualifies Eckerd for Nationals for the first time in four years. In 2019-20 she had six sailors named SAISA Sailors of the week and six Tritons garner All-SAISA recognition.
During her tenure at Eckerd, Parker has coached 14 ICSA Academic All-Americans.
Parker, a native of San Diego, California, traveled across the country for her collegiate career with the noted sailing program at St. Mary's College of Maryland. A four-year member of the sailing team, Parker was named team captain in her senior season and earned all-conference honors as a women's skipper.
She is also active with the ICSA and SAISA serving on three different boards: SAISA social media, SAISA scheduling, and ICSA Women's committee. She also serves on the ICSA ranking committee.
Parker was part of three St. Mary's teams that advanced to the ICSA National Championships. In 2017, she skippered in a B Division tandem that placed second in the Sperry Top-Sider Semifinals. She also skippered first-place finishes in the MAISA Women's Championship B Division and Navy Spring Women's Interconference A Division.
The year before, she was on crew in a third-place finish at the LaserPerformance Team Race Nationals.
Parker has also experienced much success outside of the scholastic ranks. Among her accomplishments: a first-place finish at the US Snipe Junior National Championships (2015), a pair of first-place finishes at the CFJ Nationals (2011, 2012) and a first-place finish at the Shadden Series (2012). She was high school team race National Champion in 2013 and was second-place at the Championship in 2011. Her high school career garner the same type of results including a third-place finish in the A Division at the Mallory Fleet Race National Championship.
In addition to her racing background, she has served as a sailing coach at the Annapolis Yacht Club and the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.
Parker has received her US Sailing Level 2 Instructor Certification and USA Safe Sport Certification. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Educational Studies from St. Mary's in 2017. She is currently pursing her Master's in Sports Industry Management online at Georgetown University, and will graduate in May 2021.
Parker lives in St. Petersburg with her husband, Chad Parker and their dog Clara.
