Adam DeClerico

  • Title
    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
DeClerico is entering his second year at Eckerd College as an assistant on the men’s soccer coaching staff. Last year he supported head coach Steve Magee and the Tritons to a 9-7-1 record.

DeClerico, a native of Sarasota, assisted the Tritons to earn a coveted seed in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament and he remains heavily involved in the soccer community.

DeClerico has been a soccer player all his life. Having the resources of Florida weather, he trained night and day to earn himself a full scholarship to Newberry College in South Carolina and then on to West Virginia Wesleyan College. He captained both schools and would earn himself all-conference and First-Team All-Region accolades in the 2005-06 season.

He then traveled to Italy and trialed with Acilia Calcio in Serie C1 for 10 months. Afterwards, he found himself in Chicago playing for the Chicago Fire U-23 team.  His professional career was soon taken over by a love for coaching.

DeClerico started in 2007 with a U15 boys team and the assistant coaching position at Riverview High School in Sarasota. After a year as an assistant, he became head coach at Riverview and began his stint with a current youth club, FC Sarasota.

Over the next several years, DeClerico took over a very successful U16 boys team with FC Sarasota and stayed with them for the next 2 years. He started the “FC Sarasota College Soccer Program,” which directly helped eight players from the U18 boys team achieve athletic college scholarships.

At no cost to the family, the program was designed to work with players on taking all the right steps to play in college. Those players are now playing at notable Division I and II around the country, including two at his alma mater, West Virginia Wesleyan.

The U18 FC Sarasota team was ranked nationally as high as 12th and second in the state of Florida.

2010-11 was a great year for DeClerico’s programs. The 6A Riverview High School made Powerade’s national top-50 ranking, placing 42nd (Dec. 2011). Coach DeClerico has also remained actively involved as a player, and in July of 2011 won a national championship with USASA Chicago-based RWB Adria.

Currently, he holds a National ‘D’ coaching license and the position of Boys Director of Coaching at FC Sarasota. He was directly responsible for growing the club’s competitive boys’ side by four teams in his first year as [Boys] DOC.

He plays with SUFC Premier out of Sarasota. As of May 2012, his coaching record stands at 74-25-18.
