Jason Szafarski is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Eckerd baseball program.
Szafarski, a native of Arcade, New York, brings extensive coaching experience to the field having worked at the high school, college and professional levels. He also played four years of NCAA Division II baseball at both Post (N.Y.) University and Oswego State (N.Y.) University.
Szafarski currently serves as the head coach of the Brockton (Mass.) Rox of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. In 2015, he lead the Rox to a franchise-record 34 wins and was named the league's co-manager of the year. He has also coached for the Montauk (N.Y.) Mustangs of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League.
In 2014, he was a member of the coaching staff at the University of Tampa helping the Spartans to a record of 54-4 record and a South Region championship. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for two seasons at St. Petersburg College.
Szafarski has also been a head coach at the high school level, guiding both Boca Ciega High School and Dixie Hollins High School.
Szafarski holds a bachelor's degree from Oswego State University and a master's degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University. He currently resides in St. Petersburg and is married to Jessica Szafarski.
