Banks enters his 17th season in 2024-25 as the Tritons' pitching coach.

In Banks' first year at Eckerd, he saw senior pitcher Joe Sinicola hurl a no-hitter against Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint Leo University during the 2007 season.
 
During the 2011 season, he helped junior pitcher and future Major League Baseball draft selection Joe Cuda become the SSC Pitcher of the Year.
 
In 2019, he coached Dillon McCollough who earn three Pitcher of the Year honors from the Sunshine State Conference, NCBWA South Region, and D2CCA Sotuh Region. He received All-American honors from the NCBWA (second team), ABCA (first team), and D2CCA (first team). He was also drafted in the 27th round by the Baltimore Orioles. 

In 2024, he guided relief pitcher Gavin Grubbs to nine wins, ranking in the top-10 in single season records.

From 1999 to 2006 he was a stalwart at Clearwater High School, first serving as pitching coach then as head coach from 2002 to 2006.

Banks played as a baseball collegiate athlete at Faulkner State University. In 1990, he helped the Sun Chiefs reach the Southeast regionals posting a 9-1 record with 4 saves and a 2.21 ERA.

That year he received First Team All-Conference Honors and Second Team All-Southeast Region Honors.

Banks resides in St. Petersburg with his wife, Michelle, and three daughters Kennedy, Bailey, and Sadie.
