BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Eckerd men's cross country team opened its 2026 season with a fifth-place finish at the Flagship Invitational at South County Regional Park on Friday night.
The Tritons totaled 127 points behind a strong showing from their front five, placing three runners inside the top 30 overall.
Cooper Piedra paced Eckerd in the 5K race, crossing the line in 17th place with a time of 16:02.90. Luke Gabrielle and Renn Telles followed closely behind, finishing 26th and 27th, respectively. Gabrielle crossed in 16:33.87, while Telles finished just over two seconds later at 16:35.94.
Carson Carter was the fourth Triton across the line, placing 39th overall in 17:05.46. Landon Forero rounded out Eckerd's scoring five in 43rd place with a time of 17:11.99.
Michael Richards followed shortly behind Forero, finishing 46th in 17:17.66, while Sean Feller placed 54th with a time of 17:50.85. Michael Saucedo and Oliver Finkelstein were the next Tritons to finish, recording times of 18:04.08 and 18:13.09.
The Tritons finished ahead of two other SSC opponents.
Eckerd will be back in action Sept. 18 for the FSU Pre-Regional.
