DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Eckerd men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Embry-Riddle in Sunshine State Conference action Saturday evening.
Embry-Riddle opened the scoring in the 16th minute before doubling its advantage early in the second half with a goal in the 48th minute.
Eckerd cut the deficit in half in the 80th minute as Marcio Costa found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. The Tritons continued to press for the equalizer over the final 10 minutes but were unable to find the tying goal.
The Eagles held a 10-8 edge in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks, while Trent Murphy made two saves in goal for Eckerd.
The Tritons move to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in SSC play. The team will be back in action Wednesday to host No. 17 Florida Southern.
