TAMPA, Fla. – The Eckerd softball team fell to the Tampa Spartans in the final game of a three-game series on Saturday by a score of 2-0.
Tampa struck early with a run in the opening inning after loading the bases with a pair of hits and a fielder's choice. After
Lex Difato singled in the Tritons' opening at-bat, Eckerd did not see a base runner until the fourth.
The Tritons' next hit came in the fifth on a
Molly Scott single. An error by the Spartans put two on with just one out, but Eckerd was unable to scratch across any runs. Tampa added one more in the bottom half before retiring Eckerd in order through the final two frames.
Eckerd will be back in action next weekend to host No. 1 Saint Leo.
