WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Eckerd Tritons softball team secured a series win over the Rollins Tars on Sunday, winning the opener by a score of 9-1 before dropping the finale with a final score of 7-6.
In game one, the two teams played a pair of scoreless frames before the Tritons struck first with a two-run home run by
Faith Wharton in the top of the third. One inning later,
Hannah Taylor sent a three-run shot over the outfield fence to create a 5-0 lead and begin a four-run surge. Wharton's RBI single two batters later accounted for the fourth and final tally of the frame.
Eckerd added one in the fifth on a Rollins error before a two-spot in the sixth pushed the game into run-rule territory.
Maddie Bostack's two-run single stretched the advantage out to 9-0.

Wharton went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Reymer struck out five and allowed just four hits.
In game two, the Tritons scored twice in the opening inning with a two-run blast from Taylor, her second homer of the day. The Tars answered with two of their own in the bottom half, but Eckerd reclaimed the lead with a Wharton run-scoring single in the third.
