MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd Tritons baseball team was defeated in the first game of a three-game series at Florida Tech on Friday, falling to the Panthers by a score of 5-0.
Florida Tech struck first with two runs in the opening inning. Eckerd threatened with two hits and loaded the bases in the third, but the 2-0 lead for the home team remained intact. Starter
Grady Bivens put up a pair of three-up, three-down innings after allowing the two in the first to keep the Tritons within striking distance.
The Panthers added to their total with a three-spot in the seventh to make a 5-0 game. The Tritons saw a base runner in the eighth, but were unable to scratch across any runs.
Games two and three of the series will take place tomorrow.
