GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Eckerd men's and women's track teams competed in the programs' first-ever meet on Friday at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic.
Kailani Casazza competed in the 400m dash on the women's side, finishing in 28th place with a time of 1:03.96. In the same event on the men's side,
Marcus Kennedy finished in 26th out of over 55 participants, clocking a time of 51.19 in the event.
In the mile,
Nathalia Mallo earned 32nd overall with a time of 5:38.55, while teammate
Abigail Davidson crossed the finish line with a mark of 6:08.11.
Renn Telles led the Eckerd men in the same event with a 33rd-place finish and a time of 4:53.54. The Tritons also sent a pair on each team to run in the 600m, with Mallo and Casazza earning fifth and sixth in the race. Kennedy place in eighth on the men's side in the same event, followed by
Mikkel Paulson and
Hugh Kuffner in 21st and 23rd.
Telles and Davidson both ran the 3,000m for Eckerd, with Telles clocking a time of 9:48.22 after Davidson finished in 12:07.13 in the women's race.
The Tritons will begin outdoor season on Feb. 21 at the Spartans Open hosted by Tampa.
