WILSON, N.C. — The Eckerd Tritons men's soccer team fell to the Barton Bulldogs on the road on Friday by a score of 3-2.

The first half saw a strong defensive effort from Eckerd, with Duran Van Woerkom making a notable save in the 26th minute to deny Barton's attempt. Barton snatched the lead shortly after with a strike in the 31st minute before adding on six minutes later. The Bulldogs held a 2-0 lead at intermission after owning a 9-4 advantage in shots. Four different Tritons registered a look at the goal in the opening 45 minutes of action.

Following a goalie change, Will Stanley notched two saves in the opening minutes of the second half for the Tritons to keep the margin sitting at two. After nearly 30 minutes of scoreless play, the Tritons got on the board for the first time this season with a Gavin Spuler tally on a pass from Andrew Hopen. Just six minutes later, Stafford Clarke capitalized on a scoring opportunity to equalize the game at 2-2. The Bulldogs canceled out the comeback with a goal in the 87th minute to steal the victory by a score of 3-2.
