DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell to No. 20 Embry-Riddle, 5-2 in Daytona Beach on Saturday afternoon.
The Tritons (9-8) fell to Embry-Riddle (13-5) taking the doubles point in a split decision, and one of six singles matches.
Eckerd came from behind in the doubles point after dropping the No. 2 doubles. The Tritons' top pairing of Batu Ataseven and Mario Kirkov took a 6-2 win in the No. 1 doubles, leaving the point decided in the three's spot. Lukas Palla and Eric Asakura took a tiebreak victory in the No. 3 doubles to clinch the point for the Tritons.
Adrian Gheorghe took the only singles victory for the Tritons, battling through three sets in the No. 5 spot. Batu Ataseven also took his match to three sets, but the No. 46 Wilson Igbinovia took set three 6-2.
