LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team made a final surge late with four runs in the final frame and the tying run in scoring position. However, the Tritons fell 7-6 to Florida Southern at Chris Bellotto Field on Friday night.
Eckerd scored first on a Hannah Taylor sacrifice fly in the first frame. However, the Mocs rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame on three Tritons errors. Kinsley Castro added an RBI single in the next frame but FSC got the run back in the bottom of the inning.
FSC added a run in the fourth and two in the sixth for a 7-2 tilt. The Tritons rallied for three runs in the seventh with a bases-clearing double from Ella Coiner and an RBI single from Addisan Langston. EC had the tying run in scoring position but was unable to push her across, falling 7-6.
