Tritons Fall to Moccasins

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team fell to Florida Southern 10-3 at the Turley Athletic Complex on Friday night.

The Tritons starter Dearl Edens had a strong start to the game, sitting the first two Moccasins down swinging. However, Grant Thoroman got the Moccasins on the board with a solo knock in the first. They grew their lead to four in the second. Rocco Calise threw three scoreless innings, but the Mocs put up five in the fifth for a 10-0 favor.

Jack Lizewski relieved in the eighth, and pitched a 1-2-3 inning, with the last out going down swinging. Zade Stark came up in the bottom of the frame with the bases loaded, one out, and singled through the right side gap to put the Tritons on the board. A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch for Kam Gelwick added another run for Eckerd to trail 10-2 heading into the final frame. The Tritons added one in the bottom of the ninth, but it was not enough to mount a comeback, falling 10-3.
