ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team defeated Jefferson, 6-1 at the Bullard Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tritons (5-5) topped Jefferson (8-9) after taking the doubles point and five of six singles.
The No. 2 and No. 3 Triton doubles made quick work against Jefferson's pairings, taking each position in a 6-0 shutout to secure the doubles point.
Fiona Orza and Olivia Lindestaf each defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 3 and No. 1 spots respectively to give Eckerd the 3-0 lead on the day. Kylie Misdorp secured the match in the No. 2 spot, with a pair of 6-4 victories to clinch.
Catherine Cole and Laura Ullrich each won their matches in two sets, with Cole taking the No. 5 position, 6-0, 6-3, and Ullrich taking the No. 6 6-1, 6-2.
Eckerd returns to action and conference play on Saturday, March 15 against Palm Beach Atlantic at the Fred Bullard Courts.
