BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team trailed early, and attempted to rally back in late innings, but ultimately dropped the series opener 5-1 to Lynn in Boca Raton on Friday afternoon.
After two scoreless innings, the Fighting Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third with a two-run homerun. They grew their lead in the third on a solo shot from Fowler to make it 3-0 Knights. Zade Stark got the Tritons on the board with an extra-bases RBI to shrink the Triton deficit back down to two, but Lynn tacked on a pair of unearned insurance runs in the seventh. With two on and one out in the top of the ninth, Eckerd had a chance to mount a comeback. The Knights, however, were able to close the door with no further damage, taking the series opener 5-1.
