ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team posted a shutout over Nova Southeastern with a scoreless draw at Johnson Field Wednesday night.
Both teams got off to a bit of a slow start as Tommy Shepherd registered the first shot of the game in the 25th minute that missed high. Aidan Leak came up with a big save in the 34th minute, with a diving punch-out on a bending shot to the lower right corner to preserve the shutout and enter the half tied at 0-0.
NSU pressed early in the second half with three shots inside the first 10 minutes. EC nearly converted in the 65th minute as Luchiano Rodriguez one-timed a pass from Shepherd, but Sharks' keeper Nikolas Ricardo smothered it. Leak added another save in the 74th minute as Eckerd and Nova Southeastern played to a draw.
