ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - An early lead in the first inning for Embry-Riddle solidified a 9-3 victory over the Eckerd baseball team on Friday night at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The Eagles jumped out to a five-run lead in the first inning. A solo homerun by Alex Brazer put the Tritons on the board in the second. Kyle Ericson shortened the deficit to three on an RBI groundout, for a 5-2 ERAU favor in the fourth.
Embry-Riddle added another three in the fifth to extend its lead to six. They added another in the eighth, bringing their tally to nine. A last attempt to close the gap gave Eckerd one run on an RBI single by Cole Schumaker through the left gap in th eninth, as the Eagles took the 9-3 victory.
