FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A grand slam by the Sharks in the third was the difference-maker, as the Eckerd baseball team fell 4-0 to Nova Southeastern in their series opener on the road Friday night.
Two and a half scoreless innings began the series opener, as both Eckerd and Nova Southeastern registered two hits apiece in the opening frames. The Sharks capitalized first in the bottom of the third with a grandslam for the 4-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, the Tritons had a quality chance to narrow the gap, with two runners in scoring position and only one out, but the Sharks' escaped the inning to keep the shutout. Eckerd registered four more hits in the contest, none able to bring home a run, as the Tritons were shut out 4-0 by the Sharks.
