Tritons Breeze Past Panthers

MELBOURNE, Fla. - An early 3-0 lead kept the Eckerd baseball team ahead, fueling their road victory, as they knocked off the Florida Tech Panthers 11-6 on Friday night.

Eckerd got things started early on a two-run single from Reid Lisle in the first inning. The Tritons added one more run on a bases-loaded walk for the 3-0 lead. They continued to add to their advantage in the second off a two-run single by Alex Brazer for a 5-0 favor. The Panthers scored their first run in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly to shorten their deficit to four.

The third was the only scoreless inning of the contest as both teams added two runs apiece in the fourth. Brazer hit a two-run homer over the centerfield wall, extending the lead to six before Florida Tech answered back. Two more runs by the Panthers in the fifth brought them back within reach, only trailing by two at 7-5. Kyle Ericson's eighth double of the season brought in two more runs for a 9-5 lead.

The Panthers added their final run in the seventh before Eckerd brought their tally into double-digits in the eighth and added another insurance run in the ninth for the 11-6 victory.
