ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team fell in the series opener to Rollins 13-5 at the Turley Athletic Complex on Friday evening.
The Tars opened the game with a five-run second inning, with back-to-back homeruns by Perez and Wilson accounting for four of the Tars' five runs in the inning. Rollins built on its lead in the third with a four-run inning for a 9-0 favor.
The Tritons broke the shutout in the fifth with a two-run homerun by Reid Lisle to shorten the deficit to 9-2. The Tars got the nine-run favor right back in the seventh with a two-run inning of their own before Lisle struck again in the bottom of the frame, Eckerd trailing 11-3.
A two-RBI triple by Herring gave the Tars a double-digit lead in the eighth, as they went up 13-3. A two-run double by Tyler Cox in the ninth was not enough for the Tritons to complete the comeback, as they fell 13-5.
