Tritons Dominate Falcons

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A three-run first inning got the ball rolling for a dominant 15-1 seven-inning victory for the Eckerd baseball team over Notre Dame College (Ohio) on Thursday night at the Turley Athletic Complex.

The Tritons were hot early, putting up three runs in the first. After being walked to lead off the game, Bradley White stole second for his 10th stolen bag of the season to get in scoring position. An RBI single to centerfield by Tyler Cox gave Eckerd its first run of the night. In an attempt to end the inning, the Falcons third baseman made a wild throw to first, landing the ball near the Tritons' dugout for Kyle Ericson to reach and Lisle to score. An RBI double by Alex Brazer closed the inning for the 3-0 Triton lead.

In a great defensive game by the Tritons, the Falcons' only run of the night came on a bases-loaded walk in the top of the second.  Eckerd added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the frame before running away with the game. Eckerd added two runs in each of the following two innings for a 9-1 lead after four innings. Ben Waxler came in relief in the fifth, posting one strikeout in the inning.

In a sloppy inning by the Falcons, Eckerd tallied six runs in the sixth. The Falcons combined for five errors in the inning for Eckerd to take the 15-1 lead. Cox closed the game for the Tritons, with three outs in as many pitches in the seventh to retire the game by run rule, 15-1.
