ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team jumped out early in the opener while rallying from behind in game two to sweep the doubleheader over Southern Wesleyan (SC) by scores of 6-2 and 6-4 at the Turley Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon.
Eckerd added it's six runs in the first four frames of the opener. The Tritons plated two runs in the second as Kyle Ericson delivered an RBI single before scoring on a wild pitch. Eckerd scored on an error in the third and added three runs in the fourth, scoring on another error, a Jake Fajardo sacrifice fly, and a Reid Lisle RBI double.
The Warriors added runs in the sixth and ninth but were unable to complete a comeback, as Eckerd took game one 6-2.
SWU took an early 4-1 lead in the third inning of game two, following a solo homerun from Cam Mitchem in the first and his three-run shot in the third. Eckerd added its run off Cole Schumaker's sacrifice fly in the second frame.
The Tritons tied the game with three runs in the fourth on Schumaker's RBI double and two runs scoring on a wild pitch. EC took the lead in the fifth on Christian Perez's RBI single and added an insurance run in the seventh.

- Lane Funneman earned the win in the opener, allowing just two hits and a run with three strikeouts over six innings.
- Rene Ramos picked up his second win of the season in the finale, fanning four over five innings.
- Gavin Grubbs pitched a third of an inning in game one to earn his second save of the season. Wil Stockman pitched four shutout innings, allowing just one hit in game two, for his fifth save of the year.
