LAKELAND, Fla. - Cam Collier lifted one over the left centerfield walk in the 12th inning for the go-ahead two-run homerun that fueled the Eckerd baseball team's series-opening extra-inning victory over Florida Southern, 5-4, on the road Friday night.
FSC took a quick lead with a pair of runs in the opening frame, but Eckerd took the lead in the following frame on a Joe Wike RBI single, Bradley White RBI fielder's choice, and a Reid Lisle sacrifice fly.
The teams went quiet over the ensuing five frames before the Mocs tied the game in the seventh on a sacrifice fly.
EC and FSC stayed off the board, forcing extra innings as both teams went down in order until the 12th. Lisle reached on a walk before Collier delivered the two-run blast. The Mocs rallied in the bottom of the frame, scoring a run on a ground out before loading the bases. However, Will Stockman coaxed a fly put to end the game.
