ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team bounced back to defeat the Wartburg Knights (Ohio) 7-0 at the Fred Bullard Courts on Thursday morning.
The Tritons (4-2) swept the Knights (9-7) after sweeping the doubles point and all six singles matches.
Eckerd cruised in all three doubles matches, for three victories to secure the point. In the number two doubles, Kylie Misdorp and Maya Soligo shutout Reese Williams and Emma Thurness, 6-0. Maialen Idiakez and Olivia Lindestaf only dropped one game to take the three's spot 6-1. The Tritons top pairing of Ericka Chavarria and Catherine Cole picked up their third doubles victory of the season, 6-3 to complete the sweep.
Eckerd made quick work of the Knights in singles play, with Lindestaf shutting out Thurness 6-0 in straight sets in the No. 2 spot. Cole also shutout her opponent in the No. 6 positions, 6-0, 6-0. Julia Triska limited Tori Johnson to only one game win, taking the No. 3 position 6-1, 6-0.
The Tritons host the University of Mary (ND) on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM at the Fred Bullard Courts.
