FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Despite taking a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute, the Eckerd men's soccer team dropped its road contests at NSU Soccer Stadium as the Sharks scored two late goals to top the Tritons, 2-1, on Monday evening.
Both teams started the first half slow before Eckerd registered four shots and three corner kicks over five minutes, starting in the 30th minute. Aidan Leak then turned back two close-range shots to keep the match scoreless entering halftime.
The Sharks peppered five shots over the first 10 minutes of the second frame, but Eckerd kept them off the board. The Tritons followed with five shots over the ensuing 10 minutes but were unable to convert. Daniel Freire broke through for Eckerd with a strike at the top of the 18 in the 78th minute for a 1-0 lead. However, 30 seconds later, the Sharks equalized before taking a 2-1 edge in the 82nd minute to seal the win.
