Tritons Open Final Series With Win Over Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team started its final series of the season with a 5-3 win over the Lynn Fighting Knights on Friday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium after rallying for two runs late. 

Cam Collier opened the scoring for the Tritons, bringing home Tyler Cox on a sacrifice fly to left field for the early 1-0 tilt in the first inning. Eckerd added two runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Tyler Young and Jake Fajardo for a 3-0 advantage. Lynn evened the game with a three-run inning in the bottom of the frame.

Eckerd regained its lead with an RBI single by Kyle Ericson to lift the Tritons to a 4-3 favor in the eighth. They added an insurance run in the final frame as Peter Stavrakos scored on a balk.

  • Jacob Stipp earned his fourth win of the season with 10 strikeouts over seven innings of work.
  • Payton McIntosh earned his first save of the season, allowing just one hit through two innings of work.
  • The Tritons only allowed six hits while racking up 11 hits of their own. 
  • Abbott, Stavrakos, and Michael Ballard each had two hits on the day.
  • Ballard's two hits move him to 79 on the season, ranking sixth in single-season records. 
  • Collier, Ericson, Young, and Fajardo all had an RBI.
