DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team struggled to get going offensively as they fell 6-0 in the series opener at Embry-Riddle (Fla.) Friday night at Sliwa Stadium.
A scoreless first inning saw the Eagles first on the board in the second. An RBI single by Vittoria allowed the Eagles the 1-0 advantage.
Two more scoreless innings followed before Embry-Riddle added to its tally on a single to center field for a 2-0 nod. The Eagles ran away with the game in the sixth on a pair of two-run singles.
Gavin Grubbs came in relief for Jacob Stipp, striking out three batters and without allowing a run in the remainder of the game. Embry-Riddle shut out the Tritons 6-0 to end the night.Â
