INDIANAPOLIS- For the 11th time in program history and second straight year, the Eckerd volleyball team will play in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tritons (22-8; 12-8 SSC) earned the No. 4 seed in the South Region after earning an at-large bid on Monday and will face the No. 5 seed, Florida Southern, on Thursday, November 30, in the first round. The tournament is hosted by top-seeded Tampa in the Bob Martinez Center.
It marks the sixth time that head coach Michelle Piantadosi-Lima has appeared in the tournament.
The matchup with the Moccasins will be the third matchup between the two squads this season, with Eckerd beating FSC on the road, 3-1, on September 26 and the Tritons sweeping the Mocs at the McArthur Center on October 31.
Eckerd was one of six Sunshine State Conference schools to advance to the regional tournament along with No. 1 Tampa and No. 2 Lynn, No. 3 Embry-Riddle, No. 5 Florida Southern, and No. 6 Nova Southeastern. The remaining qualifiers are No. 7 West Florida and No. 8 Spring Hill.
Game times for the first round will be announced on Tuesday.
