Pair of Hat Tricks Leads Eckerd Past Trinity

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Sophomores Tommy Shepherd and Kyle Bingham led the Tritons' scoring flurry, each recording a hat trick Wednesday night at Johnson Field as the Eckerd men's soccer team beat Trinity (Fla.) 11-0 to collect its first win of the season. The Tritons' 11 goals are the most by a team in all of Division II in a single game this season.

Eckerd wasted little time getting on the board with four goals inside the first fifteen minutes. Bingham netted his first goal in the 10th minute on a second chance shot before Harry Laing, Blake Bauer, and Shepherd found the back of the net in the 13th, 14th, and 15th minutes.

Frederik Klausen added to EC's tally with a brace off goals in the 18th and 28th minutes. Shepherd completed his hat trick in the opening half with another pair of goals in the 24th and 32nd minutes. Blane Sutton found the back of the net in the 25th minute, while Bingham gave Eckerd a 10-0 lead at halftime with a goal in the 36th minute.

Bingham completed his hat trick with another goal in the 62nd minute as the Tritons recorded their first dual hat trick game since at least 1998.
