ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. - The Tritons struck early in the first inning on an RBI groundout from Tyler Cox but ultimately fell, 4-1, in a pitcher's duel that saw both sides toss eight scoreless innings. The Buccaneers' offense erupted in the final frame, plating four runs to take the win as the Eckerd baseball team was unable to answer Friday night at the Turley Athletic Complex.
Eckerd opened the scoring on an RBI groundout by Cox, scoring Mikey Burke, who was hit by a pitch and later advanced to third on an errant pick-off attempt by BU's Arrison Perez. A classic pitcher's duel broke out over the following seven innings, as neither team could get its offense going.
Barry's bats came alive in the ninth inning, plating four runs via a pair of RBI doubles by Omar Baldo and Bran Socorro and RBI singles by Steven Torres, and pinch-hitter Sebastian Garrido.
The Tritons could not capitalize in the final frame and fell to Buccaneers, 4-1.
