Tritons Top Palm Beach Atlantic 3-1

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Tritons jumped ahead early while Hannah Perkins kept the Sailfish bats at bay as the Eckerd softball team earned its first conference win of the season at Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-1, Friday evening at Simpson Field.

The Tritons scored early, pushing a run across in the second inning after a Megan Diaz single to left field scored Brooklyn Cardona. Eckerd added an insurance run in the fifth inning when Brenna Lokeinsky hit a lead-off double before Jenice Casanas brought her home with an RBI single to left field for a 2-0 lead.

PBA nearly tied the game in the fifth frame, but Megan Diaz played heroics, reaching over the wall in left field to prevent a two-run homerun, which would have tied the game.

Eckerd added an insurance run in the seventh inning behind walks from Casanas and Skyler Redish, as Casanas scored on a PBA error. EC held PBA scoreless through six innings, allowing just one run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly, taking the game 3-1.
