Tritons Fall in Road Match at Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team fell, 8-0, in a Sunshine State Conference road match at Florida Southern Wednesday night. 

Eckerd nearly jumped out to an early lead as Alexander Ard fired a close-range shot just 33 seconds into the match, but his attempt narrowly missed. FSC countered the Tritons' early attack with a pair of goals by James Meehan inside the opening 30 minutes. 

The Moccasins added to their lead with goals in the 35th, 39th, and 40th minutes for a 5-0 lead at the half. 

Florida Southern added another pair of goals in the 52nd and 55th minutes before Meehan added a late goal in the 83rd minute. 

Eckerd tried to rally late with four shots on goal inside the final 13 minutes but was unable to convert.

• Martin Aanestad, Jake Willetts, Lucas Berglund, Ard, Zack McLaughlin, and Weikert all played a full 90 minutes.
