ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. –
Nick Arrivo delivered a pair of clutch RBI doubles, and the Tritons fended off a late Sailfish rally at the Turley Athletic complex as the Eckerd baseball team took the series opener, 3-2, over Palm Beach Atlantic Friday night.
Arrivo put Eckerd on the board early with a double in the fourth. After PBA tied the game in the sixth, Arrivo produced another RBI double to give the Tritons the lead.
Sam Cochrane added an insurance run in the seventh that proved pivotal as the Sailfish rallied for a run in the eighth.

KEY MOMENTS
- Sam Cochrane hit a one-out double down the left field line in the fourth and Arrivo quickly brought him in with a double to left center.
- PBA evened the score in the sixth as Ramon Machado led off the inning with a double and scored on a groundout.
- Arrivo delivered once again as he battled through an eight-pitch at-bat to give EC a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame. He ripped a double to right center to score Chase Achuff, who led off the inning on a single.
- Michael Ballard led off the seventh with a double to left center and moved to third on an infield single by Mikey Burke. Cochrane then brought in Ballard with a sacrifice fly to left field.
- The Sailfish pulled within one in the eighth as Brandon Seltzer hit an RBI double to right center. They threatened to even the score with runners on the corners, but EC came up big with strong defense to hold off PBA's rally.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Burke, Cochrane, and Arrivo all collected three hits while Arrivo also had two RBIs.
- Andrew Shaw earned the win allowing two runs while striking out for over 7.1 innings of work.
- Achuff collected his second save of the season as he tossed a scoreless ninth. It was his ninth career save, which ranks tied for fifth in Triton history.
- Santos Grande drew a walk in the sixth to extend his reached base streak to 12 games while Burke extended his to nine games.
