WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Triton softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday at No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic, both by scores of 3-0.
PBA's Ashton Adkins tossed a seven-strikeout two-hitter in the opener. While Eckerd managed six hits in the finale, the Tritons were unable to push a run across the plate against Abbey Busby.

KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
- The opening game was a pitchers' duel through the first four innings as neither team was able to score a run. Â Nikole Van Gennep set down the first nine batters in order while Eckerd managed three baserunners but stranded them all.
- The Sailfish finally broke the stalemate in the fifth inning, scoring twice on two hits and an Eckerd error. Â A leadoff single followed by a wild pitch moved Maddie Bertisch into scoring position where pinch-hitter Taylor Pennica drove her home with a single up the middle. Â PBA added a second run after a two-out error allowed a runner to score from third.
- Adkins took care of the rest in the circle for the Sailfish, retiring the final nine batters she faced. Â Bertisch added a two-out RBI single in the sixth for an insurance run.
Game 2
- Eckerd had an early chance against Busby after back-to-back singles from Dana Paul and Crystal Garcia opened the inning, and both moved into scoring position after a passed ball. Â However, Busby got out of the inning with a groundout and two strikeouts.
- Bertisch struck again in the bottom of the third for Palm Beach Atlantic with another two-out RBI single to give the Sailfish a 1-0 lead.
- After Edmilly Molina tripled to lead off the bottom of the fifth, Michaela Hynes sent a ball over the left field fence to extend PBA's lead to 3-0.
- The Tritons recorded a hit in the third, fourth and fifth innings but left all runners stranded.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Grace Willeck pitched a combined 2-2/3 scoreless innings of relief in the two games, lowering her season ERA to 2.03.
- Palm Beach Atlantic has won 12 games in a row following the two wins today.
- Kaleigh Floyd and Crystal Garcia both had two hits in the second game. Â Garcia has hit safely in 12 of her last 14 games.
