ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic's Mikhail Cazenave silenced the bats of the Eckerd baseball team on Friday, helping the Sailfish to a 7-1 win over the Tritons in the conference opener for both teams.
Cazenave allowed only two hits through seven innings - none in his final six - and struck out seven while PBA got big hits from Evan Dougherty and Riley Herold in the fifth and seventh innings.

KEY MOMENTS
- After McCollough retired the side in order in the top of the first, Eckerd got singles from Sam Cochrane and Mitch Calandra in the bottom of the frame. Cochrane led off with the base hit, stole second and scored on Calandra's single to right field.
- The Sailfish took advantage of rare control issues by Dillon McCollough in the second with two walks, the second of which came with the bases loaded and tied the game at 1-1.
- Dougherty delivered his first of two run-scoring hits in the third, giving Palm Beach Atlantic a 2-1 lead. Eckerd had a chance to tie in the bottom of the inning as Cochrane reached third with one out, but Cazenave stranded him there.
- Dougherty came up clutch again for PBA in the fifth, driving in two runs with a two-strike, two-out single for a 4-1 lead.
- The Sailfish padded their lead in the seventh when Herold blasted a three-run, two-out home run to right field.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Cochrane reached base safely in three of four plate appearances while extending his hitting streak to nine games.
- McCollough dealt with some uncharacteristic control issues, walking five batters for only the third time in his career. He did, however, strike out seven over six innings.
- PBA's last five runs came with two outs.
