ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Eckerd basketball teams will stay in action this week playing non-conference games before Christmas. The men will travel to Lakeland for two games at the Florida Southern Classic, while the women play one game at the McArthur Center.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

  • Eckerd (9-1, 4-1 SSC) looks to carry the momentum of a six-game win streak as they travel to Lakeland for the FSC Classic as they take on Dominican (N.Y.) College on Monday and Emmanuel (Ga.) College on Tuesday.
  • The Tritons are led by four players averaging double-digits: Drushaun McLaurn (18.7 PPG), Trevon Young (15.1), Blake Morrow (13.8), and Keshawn Ingram (11.0). McLaurn leads the team with a 63.7 shooting percentage, ranking him third in the conference and 27th in the country. Morrow and Ingram lead Eckerd behind the arc making a combined 42 3's. Ingram sits seventh in the conference with a 39.7 3-point percentage.
  • The team excels on the boards, ranking 11th in the country in rebound margin averaging 10.5 per game more than opponents. Young leads the team averaging a conference fourth-best 8.7 per game. Marco Behori and McLaurn also contribute on the boards averaging 6.0 and 5.9 per game, respectively. Behori also grabs 2.1 steals per game, sitting fourth in the conference.
  • Dominican (7-2) is coming off a loss to Southern Connecticut State. The Chargers have three players averaging double-figures: Ian Gardner (15.2 PPG), Daniel Grant (14.9), and Daraja Rodwell (14.6). Gardner also leads the team on the glass with 6.6 rebounds per game, while Sayon Charles and Jonathan Garcia average 5.8 and 5.4 respectively.
  • Emmanuel (7-4) enters the week on a four-game win streak and will play Florida Southern Monday night before facing the Tritons on Tuesday. The lions have four players averaging double-digits: Kendrick Colvin (15.7 PPG), Kurtis Robinson (12.8), Emerson McClung (12.3), and Brandon Simpson (10.5). Robinson also leads the team with 10.2 rebounds per game.
  • Eckerd last played Dominican in 2013, winning 70-67, and leads the all-time series 2-0, while the Tritons also lead the series over Emmanuel, 1-0.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

  • Eckerd (9-2, 4-1 SSC) looks to bounce back after a narrow loss Sunday as they host Albany State (Ga.) on Tuesday.
  • Kacie Juday leads the Eckerd offense averaging 14.0 points per game. Behind Juday is a balanced offense of Yarden Danan (9.8 PPG), Chelsea Johnson (8.7), Zoe Richards (8.3), and Ada Yalcin (7.5). Juday's 14.0 points per game sit ninth-best in conference; she also shoots 52.4 percent from the floor. Danan leads the team behind the arc with 19 3-pointers made at a 35.2 percent clip.
  • Juday also leads the team on the boards averaging 8.5 rebounds per game, which is tied for fifth best in the conference. Richards (4.5) and Armi Anttila (4.1) also contribute on the glass.
  • Yalcin drives the Eckerd offense averaging a conference fourth-best 4.0 assists per game. She also averages 2.0 steals per game-sixth best in conference.
  • Albany State (6-7) enters the week off a win over Tuskegee (Ala.) last week and they will play Rollins on Monday before coming to the McArthur Center. The Golden Rams have two players averaging double-digits: Kayla Green (11.7) and Elesha Foster (11.5). Shantrell Holland leads the team on the glass averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, while Foster and Green contribute with 5.7 and 5.5 per game respectively.
