TRITONS THIS WEEK: What's Coming On November 20-26

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Eckerd basketball is back in action this week for a busy schedule of non-conference matchups. The men host a game Wednesday night while both the men and women host the annual Eckerd Thanksgiving Classic at the McArthur Center on Friday and Saturday. While the regular season is over for volleyball, the Tritons find out their post-season fate tonight during the NCAA Selection Show at 7:30 PM.

  • The Eckerd volleyball team will await their post-season fate as the NCAA Selection Show will air at 7:30 PM on Monday. Eckerd is currently ranked seventh in the region and finished the regular season fifth in the conference. With two strong wins this past weekend over Embry-Riddle and Florida Tech, Eckerd hopes to have solidified its position for its ninth post-season appearance.

  • Eckerd (3-1, 1-1 SSC) enters the week after a win over Tampa on Wednesday and a narrow loss to No. 5/12 Barry on Saturday. Eckerd will play three non-conference matchups this week hosting Puerto Rico- Bayamon on Wednesday followed by the Eckerd Thanksgiving Classics where the Tritons will play Keiser (Fla.) on Friday and Pittsburg State (Kan.) on Saturday. 
  • The Eckerd offense is led by Drushaun McLaurn averaging 18.0 points per game. McLaurn shoots 62 percent from the floor, which is sixth-best in the conference. Behind McLaurn is a balanced offense of three Tritons averaging double-digits: Keshawn Ingram (12.8 points per game), Blake Morrow (10.5), and Trevon Young (10.3). Ingram leads the team while sitting ninth in the conference shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.
  • Young leads the team on the glass averaging 8.0 rebounds per game, which is tied for sixth in the conference. McLaurn and Marco Behori average 6.8 and 6.5 rebounds per game, respectively. Behori also has 13 swipes leading the defense with a conference third-best 3.3 steals per game.
  • Puerto Rico-Bayamon (0-0) will head into the week playing its first contests of the season. The Cowboys will play at Rollins tomorrow before heading to the McArthur Center to take on the Tritons. 
  • Keiser (4-0) enters the week with two conference wins last week they will play Florida National on Tuesday before heading to St. Petersburg on Friday. The Seahawks have four players averaging double-digits: Deion McClenton (16.5), Trystan Pratapas (15.8), Micah Goss (14.3), and Andrija Sarenac (13.3). McClenton also averages 12.0 rebounds per game.
  • Pittsburg State (3-1) enters the week off a loss and will play two games before facing Eckerd on Saturday. The Gorillas have four players averaging double-digits: Donovan Franklin (17.0), Xavier Adams (15.5), Demetrius Levarity (12.0), and Jabari Antwine (11.3). 
  • Eckerd beat UPR-Bayamon last season, 98-60, behind 23 points from Morrow. This is the first meeting between Eckerd and both Keiser and Pittsburg State.

  • Eckerd (3-1, 1-1 SSC) was narrowly defeated by Tampa on Wednesday but responded with a win over Barry on Saturday. Eckerd hosts Johnson C. Smith (N.C.) on Friday and Mount Olive (N.C.) on Saturday for the annual EC Thanksgiving classic. 
  • The Eckerd offense features a balanced threat of Kacie Juday (10.5 points per game), Armi Anttila (9.0), Yarden Danan (9.0), and Zoe Richards (7.3). All four players shoot better than 40 percent from the floor. Ada Yalcin drives the Eckerd offense with 15 assists. Yalcin averages 3.8 assists per game, ranking third in the conference. 
  • Kacie Juday leads the team on the boards averaging 7.5 rebounds per game, which ranks eighth in the conference, Richards also grabs 5.0 per game. 
  • Yalcin paces the Eckerd defense with 11 steals. Her 2.8 swipes per game are tied for first in the conference. 
  • Johnson C. Smith (3-0)  will play Puerto Rico–Bayamon during the week before heading to the McArthur Center. The Golden Bulls are led by four players averaging double-digits: Malia Rivers (14.3), Asha Jordan (14.0), Monique Hall (12.0), and Maiya Green (11.0). 
  • Mount Olive (1-3) went 1-1 last week and will play Florida Southern before facing the Tritons. The Trojans are led by Felecity Havens averaging 26.8 points per game. Behind Havens is Ni'Ya Styles and Hope Toliver averaging 14.3 and 11.8 points, respectively. Havens and Toliver also average 8.8 and 8.5 rebounds per game respectively.
